Lay Betting

Lay Betting is a type of bet where you bet against an outcome happening, instead of for it. This is only available on betting exchanges (e.g., Betfair), where bettors act as the bookmaker.

For example, if you lay Team A to win, you are betting that Team A will NOT win—meaning you win the bet if they lose or draw. However, since you are acting as the bookmaker, your liability (potential loss) can be higher than your stake, depending on the odds.
